Spay or Neuter Your Pet

  • Help Fix ME: Maine's Low Cost Spay/Neuter Program
    You may be eligible for the State's low cost spay/neuter program.  Let us help you fix your cat or dog. There aren't homes enough for all of them. If you can't afford to fix your cat or dog, call 1-800-367-1317 or (207) 287-7621, or email ACF.helpfixme@maine.gov
    If you receive or are eligible for one of the following programs:
              Food Stamps
              Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF)
              Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
              Social Security Disability (SSD)
              Maine Care (Medicaid)
    You can have your cat fixed for $10, and your dog fixed for $20.

    Please check with your local animal shelter or at http://www.spaymaine.org/ for other programs that may help you if Help Fix ME can not.


  • Community Spay-Neuter Clinic
  • This program offers quality surgery at low prices for low income households.  They are located at Freeport Outlet 475 U.S. Route 1.  Call 207/865-0772, or visit www.communityspayneuterclinic.com

  • SpayMaine
  • Contact SpayMaine to see if they may be able to negotiate the spay/neuter program at your local vet clinic. Please visit  www.spaymaine.org for more information, or contact them via email with any questions.

  • Animal Refuge League STOP Program (Westbrook)
  • The ARLGP is now home to the IDEXX Spay/Neuter Clinic! Under the direction of Dr. Elizabeth Stone and Dr. Beth Sperry, the PAW-VS will be providing low cost spay/neuters at the IDEXX Clinic located right inside the ARLGP.  Individuals interested must meet income guidlines to qualify for services.   • Do you have a cat with kittens? If you surrender your cat’s or dog’s litter to the ARLGP, they will spay and return the mom to you at no charge. For more information contact Humane Education Director Kathleen Fobear at Kfobear@arlgp.org

  • The Cleo Fund at Animal Welfare Society

  • Friends of Animals
  • They provide low cost spay/neuter certificates that can be used at any of FOA’s participating veterinary hospitals. Call them at 800/321-7387 or visit their website at www.friendsofanimals.org.

  • HELP! FIX ME Maine’s Low Cost Spay/Neuter Program 
  • This program offers vouchers which are available to those eligible for SNAP, TANF, SSI, SSD, and Maine Care.  Through the program cats will be fixed for only $10, and dogs for only $20. Call 800/367-1317 or 207/287-7621.

  • They offer cat spays and neuters for a discounted price every Tuesday! Call 207/839-7456.
